700 Block, North Side

On the north side of the 700 block is Saint Rose of Lima Park. The Park is a multi-use recreational area and public space. In the winter holiday season, there is frequently installed an ice skating rink. Adjacent to the Park are several buildings:

Historical Significance: The five-story Oschner Building is one of downtown Sacramento’s few remaining office buildings from this early period. Named for John Oschner, a barrel manufacturer, the building housed the offices of doctors, dentists, and lawyers behind its many round and unusual canted bay windows on the upper floors. The restrained classical ornament is typical of this later phase of the Queen Anne style.

Current Use: Starbucks is on the ground floor. Other tenants include professional services such as law firms.
